Transportation
in Jackson

Getting around in Jackson and West Tennessee is incredibly convenient! Our commute times are more than 30% faster than the national average, with an average time of just 17.6 minutes (often even shorter).

Our hub location on the corridor of I-40 between Nashville and Memphis and US Hwy. 45 gives easy East-West and North-South drivability. You can reach major metropolitan areas in as little as one hour.

Airports and Airline Service

Jackson offers commercial airline service from Jackson Regional Airport (MKL) with daily flights to and from Atlanta, GA and Chicago, IL. As one of only six airports in the state of Tennessee to provide TSA screening, our airport offers significant advantages to travelers, including shorter lines and faster security checks. Plus, you can seamlessly connect to any flight through Atlanta International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport without additional security screening.

Additionally, Nashville International Airport (BNA) and Memphis International Airport (MEM) are conveniently located directly off of I-40, making driving to these major international airports easy for those wishing to travel with specific airline carriers or with nonstop travel.

Public Transportation

No car? No problem! The Jackson Transit Authority (JTA) operates bus service throughout the City of Jackson Monday-Saturday, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. With reasonable fares and a convenient app, it’s easy to navigate the city with JTA.

Uber and Lyft drivers are also available throughout the Jackson area.
